Occupational Health and Safety

Since the last 10 years, DVS has been working closely with different government departments to develop framework to address issue of Silicosis. DVS network is now in Karauli, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Dausa, Bundi and Bhilwara Districts of Rajasthan. More than 350,000 sand stone workers are part of this programme.

Community Health

Livelihood

DVS has been engaged in building livelihood through farm-based and non-farm-based development interventions such as Orchard Development, Vegetable Cultivation, Livestock Management (Dairy, Goatry, Poultry, etc.). Skill training programmes such as Sewing and Tailoring, Electrician, Plumber, Mason, etc. are provided by DVS to rural women and youth.

Child Labour

Promotion of Child Labour-Free Zones in natural stone supply chain is one of the landmark interventions of DVS in Bundi District of Rajasthan. More than 8000 families have been involved under the initiative.

Training of Adolescent Girls on Self-defence

Over 180 girls are trained for self-defence by DVS through a pilot Initiative of DoWE, UNICEF and ARAVALI. Two modules have been developed for training based on its expertise.

Community Mobilisation, Networking and Policy Advocacy

DVS has been working for building and strengthening Community based Organisations (CBOs), Farmers’ Clubs, Self Help Groups (SHGs), etc. It also conducts awareness campaigns, training and capacity building initiatives on its thematic areas. DVS has been working with government departments at various levels on issues related to Silicosis, Occupational Health and Safety, etc. It engages and work with Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and also engages with government at the state level on public policy issues related to stoneworkers in the state.
